Quick Start Guide
Deploy your first AI teammate in under 10 minutes. Step-by-step setup for Raya, Adam, and Sara.
Before You Start
Make sure you have completed your account setup and organization configuration. You need a verified work email and an organization created in Teammates.ai.
Each setup below takes under 10 minutes. Pick the AI teammate that matches your most urgent need: Raya for customer service, Adam for sales, or Sara for hiring. You can deploy all three at once or start with one and add more later.
Note
The free plan gives you 10 credits — enough for 100 Raya responses, 30 Adam voice minutes, or 1 Sara interview. No credit card required, no time limit. Use it to validate the fit before upgrading.
Deploy Raya (Customer Service)
Raya handles customer support across chat, email, WhatsApp, voice, and social media. She resolves tickets autonomously, processes refunds, looks up orders, and escalates when needed. 1 credit = 10 customer responses.
- 1
Step 1: Create Raya
Go to Teammates > Add Teammate > Raya. Give her a name (e.g., "Support Raya") and select your preferred language.
- 2
Step 2: Upload your knowledge base
Add your support docs, FAQs, or product documentation. Raya learns from these to answer customer questions accurately. Supported formats: PDF, URL, plain text.
- 3
Step 3: Connect your channels
Enable the channels Raya should monitor: website chat widget, email inbox, WhatsApp Business, or social media accounts. Each channel has a guided setup flow.
- 4
Step 4: Set escalation rules
Define when Raya should hand off to a human: by topic (e.g., legal issues), sentiment (frustrated customers), or VIP status. Configure notification channels for your support team.
- 5
Step 5: Go live
Toggle Raya to "Active" and she starts handling conversations immediately. Monitor her first few interactions from the Conversations dashboard.
Pro Tip
Start with a focused knowledge base. Upload your top 10 FAQ answers and your return/refund policy first. Raya performs best when she has clear, specific documentation rather than large general dumps. You can always add more sources later.
Deploy Adam (Sales)
Adam handles both inbound and outbound sales. Inbound: he engages website visitors, captures exit intent, and recovers abandoned carts. Outbound: he prospects, sends multi-channel outreach, and books meetings. 10 credits = 30 voice minutes.
- 1
Step 1: Create Adam
Go to Teammates > Add Teammate > Adam. Name him (e.g., "Sales Adam") and configure his language and tone preferences.
- 2
Step 2: Add your product/service info
Upload product docs, pricing sheets, or your website URL. Adam uses this knowledge to qualify leads, answer product questions, and handle objections in conversations.
- 3
Step 3: Connect your CRM and calendar
Integrate your CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot, or others) so Adam logs every interaction. Connect your calendar (Google Calendar, Outlook) so he books qualified meetings directly.
- 4
Step 4: Set up your sales channels
Enable channels: website chat widget for inbound visitors, email for outbound campaigns, WhatsApp for direct messaging, and voice for phone outreach. Adam coordinates across all of them.
- 5
Step 5: Launch and monitor
Activate Adam and he starts engaging leads immediately. Track performance from the Sales Analytics dashboard: conversion rates, meetings booked, and pipeline value.
Warning
Connect your CRM before going live. Without a CRM connection, Adam still engages leads and books meetings, but you will not see conversation data in your pipeline. Retroactive sync is available, but real-time is always better.
Deploy Sara (Hiring)
Sara conducts full live video interviews, scores candidates on 100+ signals, and delivers detailed evaluation reports. She screens candidates 24/7 in 50+ languages with bias-free, structured assessments. 10 credits = 1 full interview (20-30 minutes).
- 1
Step 1: Create Sara
Go to Teammates > Add Teammate > Sara. Name her (e.g., "Hiring Sara") and set her default interview language.
- 2
Step 2: Create a job and define the role
Add a job title, description, and required skills. Sara uses this to generate relevant interview questions tailored to the role.
- 3
Step 3: Configure scoring rubrics
Customize what Sara evaluates: technical knowledge, problem-solving, communication skills, cultural fit, or any custom competency your role requires.
- 4
Step 4: Invite candidates
Send interview links via email or your ATS. Candidates click the link, join the live video interview with Sara, and complete it at their convenience, any time of day.
- 5
Step 5: Review reports and decide
After each interview, Sara delivers a detailed report: overall score, skill-by-skill breakdown, candidate ranking, and a hiring recommendation. Compare candidates side-by-side in the cohort view.
Pro Tip
Write detailed job descriptions. Sara generates interview questions from your job details — vague descriptions produce generic questions. Include specific technologies, responsibilities, and team context for the most targeted interviews.
What's Next
Your AI teammate is live. Here are the recommended next steps to get the most out of Teammates.ai: connect additional channels (WhatsApp, social media, voice), invite your team members so they can monitor conversations and access analytics, explore integrations with your existing tools (CRM, ATS, Slack, Zapier), and review the analytics dashboard after your first 24 hours to see your AI teammate in action.
Note
Need more credits? Upgrade any time from Settings > Billing. Plans start at $25/month for 50 credits. All three teammates are available on every plan, including the free plan.
